What Employers Get When They Partner With PJSI | Project JumpStart

In Students by Emma Shirey

We talk a lot about the pipeline. We want to take a minute to talk about what is on the other side of it.

Project JumpStart has been connecting Baltimore-area construction employers with trained, work-ready trades talent for more than 20 years. But a PJSI employer partnership is not a staffing transaction. Here is what it actually looks like in practice.

Access to Trained, Vetted Candidates

When you partner with PJSI, you get access to graduates from our current and recent cohorts — people who have completed our pre-apprenticeship curriculum and are actively looking to build a career in the trades. Through our Talent Board partnership with TradeScouts, you can view available candidates directly from our website. Skills, certifications, trade interests, and availability are all visible upfront, with no login required.

Placement Support That Does Not Stop at the Hire Date

Our team stays in contact after a candidate starts. If onboarding gets complicated, we want to know. We are not here to hand you a resume and disappear. That ongoing relationship is part of what makes a PJSI placement different from a cold hire.

Workforce Development Grant Coordination

A number of our employer partners qualify for state and federal grants that offset training and onboarding costs for new hires. Most of them did not know they were eligible before working with us. Identifying those funding opportunities and helping employers navigate the process is part of what we do — at no additional cost to our partners.

A 20-Year Relationship With Baltimore’s Construction Workforce

We know this industry. We know the employers. And we know the candidates coming through our doors in a way that a staffing agency or job board simply cannot replicate. That institutional knowledge is part of what you get when you work with PJSI.

None of this comes with a fee for our employer partners. It is the model we have built, and it works because both sides of the partnership are genuinely supported through it.

See It in Person

Our next Lunch + Learn is June 17th — in person, by invitation, designed specifically for construction employers. It is the fastest way to get a complete picture of what a PJSI partnership looks like.
